I feel like I should be handing out cigars or something. For those who were
so helpful in pointing me to GMC's for sale, thanks. I found my project
coach about 700 miles from my home base of New Orleans in a suburb of
Orlando. Belonged to an individual that could not keep it up anymore. Great
mechanical shape. The interior is another story. Let's just say it is a
gut job. Drove it home this past weekend. Only a couple of minor mishaps
on the road. A radiator boil over and a leaking fuel line. The boil over
happened because I drove it hard, pulled in to a rest area, and killed the
engine without letting it cool down. Learned that lesson. The fuel line
leak was found as I pulled out of a gas station. Lukily I was able to
replace the section of hose and get back on the road. I spent yesterday
pulling a compression test and removing a lot of the "customizing" the
previous owner had done in the cockpit. No surprises there.

A couple of questions at this point for the more seasoned owners.
Insurance... who has the best deal? Service manuals... where is the best
place to get them (read cheapest). No, I am not a tightwad. Just thrifty.

Coverage for the buck would probably be RV Alliance America. They have an
agreed value program that was specifically designed with GMC's in mind.
They have a fledgling web site at www.rvaa.com - at least their 800 phone
number is there.

Unless you can find a secondhand set somewhere, Cinnabar(800-720-2227) is
the only source. Not cheap, but well worth every penny.

Sure! That's what we all say :o)

Hadn't thought about this before. Maybe that's why I don't have my coach
yet.{:>)
