Darren,

Lets not put misinformation on the net. The Powermaster unit will provide
full brakes without the engine running and that one of its benefits. If one
of it's components fails like with the vacuum system there is no boost! It
has an accumulator that gives two or three brake applications if there is a
failure. If you and Jim Bounds don't like the system, fine, but lets have
the facts correct.

Oh Jim. Hello. This is back to you. Yoo-hoo Jim Jimmy.
I was just saying what I was told. Hello Jim...Anybody there. Running for

Darren,

My apologies for sending you "running for cover" :-). I was only
attempting to give correct information.

I have used a Powermaster unit for four years and know others who use
them and are pleased with the results. There is no doubt that a Powermaster
will improve the stopping ability of a GMC with original brakes. Anyone
using one has to realize that the unit is a fairly complicated
electro-hydraulic and mechanical device. More complicated than the vacuum
boost system. Once other brake upgrades are done such as larger calipers,
carbon metallic pads, larger wheel cylinders, larger rear shoes, or rear
discs, I'm not sure there is any additional benefit to a Powermaster over a
vacuum boost system with a vacuum pump backup. I have driven a couple of
coaches with brake upgrades at the wheels and a well serviced vacuum system
and could not notice a difference except the Powermaster operates with
lighter pedal application.
