Power Jacks to lift rear end

Hey everybody, long time no see.

I have been crazy busy with work in the new job and have pretty much not
been able to come up for air for about four years.

I plan on finally moving at least one of my coaches at the end of the
month.

I am awaiting a call back from Dave friend transport for a quote to get my
palm beach from Jackson Mississippi to either gym Brown’s in Orlando or to
my driveway in Jacksonville, homeowners association be damned.

How many Tynes does my jack need to be rated to Lyft my rear wheels? I
see some powered four and 5 ton units and I figure I can buy two of them
and raise both sides of the back end it wants and put some jackstands
underneath. I need to put both coaches in hover mode so I can swap my nice
wheels from the Royal to the Palm Beach.

The tires are flat, and I’m working on gravel. The tires are flat, and I’m
working on gravel. I will probably lay down some timber or planks or
something and is plenty of blocking.

I promise video.

2 1/2 ton minimum

Lift gradually one side at a time and block. Keep adding blocking side to
side as you raise it until you have the clearance u need.

Don’t forget to release pressure in the bags as they are unloaded.

Robin,
Yes, you need to come up for air.
Go to Harbor Freight and get their 3 ton floor jack for under $100 and some good jack stands and you should be good to go. So easy even a Lawyer could do it🤭
And I think by”gym Browns” you might be meaning Jim Bounds at the Co-op in Orlando

On gravel, I use bottle jacks with jack hooks instead of floor jacks, on a
timber pad. The shorty jacks fit better, but the two-stage bottle jacks are
best—they are short for when the coach is down and raise enough to clear
the rear wheels even if you don’t slip a piece of spring steel through the
bogie frame to support the bogies at half mast. 3 tons is plenty.

No need for power jacks—just go back and forth and lift in stages.

Support under the bogie frames with heavy timbers—4x6 or 6x6–which are
better on gravel than jack stands.

Well, applied GMC appears to be out of Jack hook adapters. I have one of
course, but I wanted two because I was going to buy a couple of electric
scissor jacks to lift both sides at once.

Now I will just do it the slow way with a two-stage bottle jack and one
hook and a bunch of blocking.

Robin,

There is nothing wrong with lift and block as long as the front is either on its own tires or supported only in the center of the front cross member.
If the front is supported so it cannot pivot, the stress can break things.

If the butt is all the way down with no bag and no tire height, the factory jack is actually a good choice to get an initial lift so you can crib the
frame and remove the factory jack. If it's a low as you say not sure how you wouldd get bottle jack under the jack hook to start.

John,
The one your showing works only in the back.
Our Duel Jack adapter works in the FRONT and REAR.
Our origional supplier quit making it for us as they had something better
than supplying to the GMC MH group.
I'm having some engineering Calculatios done now and quotation on parts
that we need fabed.
Our web sight showes the unit, look under WHEELS

Hi Jim K! :)

When you get the new ones fabricated, make sure there’s enough room so
that the “shoulder” of the bottle jack does not interfere with the
structure of the hook adapter itself. I was running into that with your
hook, but maybe my bottle of Jack was weird or something.

In my particular case, I do have both coaches with blocking underneath the
bogies, but the tires gave deflated some. I believe I still have plenty of
room to get a jack under there. Also, it is a gravel lot so I can just dig
a small hole if absolutely necessary.

I promise video when I get there. :-)

Dave friend transport quoted me $2100 from Jackson Mississippi to Orlando
Florida which I think is great.

I spoke to Jim Bounds and he said they would be ready to receive it, just
need know when it would arrive and I need to get him a list of the various
things that I would like done to it.

Ragusa has a jack hook that only works for the rear bogeys, so I bought
two of them as well as their little aluminum wedge and the nifty tire lever
rod thing.

I’m going to pick up a couple of electric scissor jack that lift 5 tons.
This will be fun. :)

The trailer guys at shows all have regular cheap scissors jacks like my Chrysler minivan, and a 1/2" battery dril and socket to run them up. Seems to
work just fine.

Jim H neither are jacks at the corners of a GMC :) I suspect some of the fifth wheel jobs I see are as heavy as our coaches. Robin, I can't
understand why those tires I gave you five years or so ago have flattened - they were only about ten or twelve when you got them.
