I may have read about this here, or maybe not. A guy that goes around
picking up motorhomes that have sat for a while (like a few years)
supposedly brought one of those 6 gallon boat gas containers with the 6
foot rubber hose, with him.

He would connect the rubber hose to the carb and bypass the gas in the
motorhome tanks, until they could get to a place to drain the tanks, etc.
Any thoughts on how to make one of those units. Is the bulb on the boat
tank just for priming and the engine will draw out ot the tank after it
starts?

In an emergency, I used a boat aux fuel tank to limp back 20 miles once, but
it was not a GMC. It was slow as I had to pump as gravity was insufficent to
keep the fuel level adequate. . The carb will not continue the flow. Carbs
are usually designed to require anywhere from 4-8 lbs of fuel presure to
operate properly. Although gravity might get some fuel to the carb. bowl,
you are going to need some form of electric fuel pump, whether marine or
otherwise. The bulb is just for priming. walter bright, 76 GB.
