I recently acquired a 2nd GMC as if I couldn' find enough to do on my
edgemont. The new one(75 Eleganza II} has a 2way electric frig that is
not working properly. It will get down to 20 degrees in freezer, but
won't go below 45 in reefer area. Seems like I read on the net sometime
ago where you could take them out, roll them over, beat them up, or some
such and maybe they would start working better. Anyone knows of this
method please respond. In case this does'nt work I will be open to
suggestions for replacement, not neccessarily all electric, but one that
does'nt require too much woodworking ability. All help is appreciated.

Bill - the method of turning on side, top, other side, etc. is only
for the ammonia/water cycle refrigerators that have heaters (electric
and propane) to run the refrigeration cycle. If you have a 2 way
electric I would think that is is a freon system with a compressor
and that procedure won't do anything for you. Do you have a Norcold?
Look at the back and see if there is a compressor. Sounds like there
might be clogged or crimped tubes that lead to the refrigerator
section, or perhaps a leak that has caused it to be low on freon so
that it won't pull enough heat out of the referigator box. That
doesn't seem like it would be the case though if the freezer is going
down to 20 deg.

Thanks Emory.. I was afraid that would be the case. It is a Norcold tho
I can't make out model #. I think it is probably original tho it looks
good enough to be new. Guess I will have it checked out before springing
for a new one.

Bill......there's a tray under the freezer comp. take it out and check the
temp again......doesn't do any good to turn an electric upside
down......that's what I know....
