After dozens upon dozens of hand drawn sketches, we finally settled on this. I think It is just about right and doesn't have too many of the Party Ribbons you see on new coaches. I was going to avoid them altogether, but the coach looked too plain without something to break up all the white space. The roof will be all white. The silver will stop somewhere past the top after the gutter.

Plan to take it to Topeka hopefully in early November, time and their availability permitting.

I like it! Looks really good. Understated and elegant. Should be nice and cool too. That's important for an Arizona coach.

No. We Wanted a primarily white coach for the heat, but all white looks too plain, and just a lower half as a contrast color just didn't do it for us.

I also tried to curve the body line upwards at the rear but then it had too much of a 70's disco look with stripes and plain without.

I settled on this after looking at what Winnebago has done with the newer sprinter chassis coaches, plus the German Hymers, and other class C's.

Looks GREAT, have you thought of having the ribbins painted over the windows with perforated vinyl? I've seen it done, looks pretty cool and it flows nicely.

Oh, I gotcha. No I didn't. I was able to determine what colors I wanted from the various websites out there with new coaches on them.

Also, I have a tan interior, but wanted silver outside, so I decided to use the tan and silver together on the outside to tie it all together.

The 'Party ribbon' which is omnipresent on all SOBs is contrived gimmick to
make the eye think the huge big, un streamlined box is something it isn't.
It doesn't fool anyone and is really dated.

I prefer the 3 color style on our naturally streamlined coaches [with
obviously a lower aerodynamic coefficient than SOBs.]
It is implicit also that a SOB cant get away with a 3 tone scheme else it
looks like the huge, un-streamlined air pusher it is.

Borrowing from someone else, I will act as a professional wise-aXX and cast
one vote of no against your proposed scheme.
And you can tell me to 'bug off'.

George, have you ever seen an all white GMC? Too plain.

I am also trying to do something different. I tend to think the party ribbons are there to break up the monotony. They don't really add any streamline effect in my eye.

I like Raccoon stripes, but too much black in the AZ heat and large black surfaces usually overheat and the paint goes to hell out here.

G'day,

Chris I like it, it makes it look alive and fresh!

Mine is all white like most Motorhomes in Oz, very boring, but living in sub-tropical Australia, we had to think of heat too. Our roof is painted with therma-shield,it is a water based 2 part paint that offers great protection from heat and seals the roof.

We hope to respray ours soon in a light metallic silver,but will probably have raccoon stripes,I think the paint will last, as it unfortunately spends 90% of it's time in the garage.
- Silver because it is close to the same refractive index as white
- Metallic, so it will hopefully disguise some of the waves on our GMC

Very nice sketch and I love the other paint jobs as well. Thank you listing your paint color choices Larry. It gives a person an idea of what those colors look like.

My husband & I are trying to decide on a paint scheme for our GMC. We are thinking about either the very first one in Dave's picturetrail site:

My husband is going to paint it and he hates painting silver. Coverage can be difficult. He has put the flares & visor on the motorhome and is planning on painting it this winter, but wants the decision made as he is doing the body work now.

Does anyone know who owns the first GMC in Dave's site? It looks like a Royale and I was wondering if it was 23' or 26'? We are interested in finding out what colors they used & if they mind us copying if we decide to go that way.

A very nice "relatively clean," and modern look. I can see how you could like it.

That said... I personally like something a little cleaner. I like something like Steve's coach: (Did he sell it?)

I might swap the silver for the color of our Malibu -- Amber Bronze Metallic. Depending on the light, it looks any color from brown to silver.

I HAVE seen some "VERY" nice all white coaches. To look good, the paint has to be very high quality and kept shiny and clean.

I remember seeing a sweet all white coach at the Co-Op. I can find the picture but Larry is looking a lot better than he looked when I was down there (7 years ago):

Mike, Steve sold it to a very lucky couple. I do like his paint job. We actually were originally planning something like that but it just wasn't different enough.

Dan, I realize that, but I'm outta time. I figured I'd head south when I pick it up. I'd leave it over the winter, but I don't think Topeka would want that, and I have plans for the holidays and of course, Quartzite. This year come hell or high water, I'm gonna make it to Quartzite.

Chris though I'm sick of the party ribbons on the SOB boxes, I think it looks pretty good and understated in your drawing on a TZE. I noticed no belt molding. Are you trying to eliminate it or just have the paint flow over it. Belt line doesn't really work with your scheme.
