Does anyone have a source or improved replacement for the threaded plastic
buttons holding the latch on the sliding cockpit windows? I am not too
excited about using a pop-rivet, as has been suggested.

Bill,
Cinnabar has them. Just give them a call and they can mail them to you. I
bought a pair last summer and they were inexpensive, IIRC.

Cinnabar has the replacements you need.

You can also get aluminum ones at a good hardware. My local Ace carries the
Dormor (sp) product line, and they call these sex bolts.

Just FWIW..

Talked to Jim Bounds this morning. The man is crazy. He GIVES those little
threaded buttons away for free! It's as if he doesn't know he could be
getting at least a nickel apiece for the little buggars. What's more, his
are aluminum and won't wear out. He's gonna lose all that repeat business!

I had someone try to break into my coach and they sliced off the top of
the buttons (on both sides no less) and pushed the screws thru to pop the
latch off and slide the windows back. Didn't do them much good thou since
those are pretty darn small windows ;-)
I had ordered the new style latches for the large main windows from Golby
($6.95 each) and they came with buttons and screws. Since I didn't remove
the original buttons for the new latches I had the buttons left over and
they fit perfectly in the front sliders! Try a couple of these new latches
(much nicer and they don't scratch the large windows and you'll have extra
buttons to boot!
