I will be in San Francisco probably from Tuesday til Sunday. Thursday I'll pickup my girls from SFO and we will do touristy things a few days in Sf, before driving up to the Redwoods.

Anyone know a good place to overnight near a light rail connection or whatever type of public transport exists in that area? I doubt that driving the Gmc into town each day is a fun thing to do.

Thanks.
Best regards

Peer we have driven through SF many time in the GNC, best to avoid if possible. I think there are camp grounds south of the city. They have great public transport.

Try the Marin RV Park. It is 10 miles north of th Golden Gate Bridge alongside Hwy 101. It is a 10 minute walk to the bus terminal and ferry.
Ride the ferry to San Francisco. Beautiful ride on the bay.

Peer
Forgot to say that the RV park north of the bridge is at Greenbrea, CA.

Also check out the Marin Headlands, just north of the Golden Gate Bridge. Breathtaking views. Was the army base for defending the entrance to the Bay. Several camping options. Not very expensive.

We live up in the Redwoods, if you need some local knowledge, give a call, I'm on the blacklist under Fort Bragg.

Let's qthey don't deny my old Rv entry, but I assume there age limit is for longer stays only.

Peer,
I don't know how far up highway 101 you are going; if going into Oregon be
sure to stop at my Oregon home in Charleston, where I have full hookups for
GMCers; it has also been the sight of several SOOR rallies. We would treat
you again to a nice dinner. However, I will not be there, but the wife and
kids are there.

Or, for free, park in front of Stanford University on the El Camino in Palo
Alto, right across from the train station, and full of great restaurants.
45 minutes on am express train to SF. Granted, that's boondocking.

Hello everybody,

just arrived in the Marin RV park north of the SF bay. VERY nice people.
The lots themselves are basically parking lots with gravel and full hook
ups.

Thanks to everyone who suggested this place. Now I am just
contemplating: Should I for the first time, utilize the city water inlet
or should I just keep on using the onboard watertank... Decisions...

Peer,

If you hook up to city water turn it on ONLY when you are in the coach and awake. If you leave it on 24/7 you could wake up to or
come back to a flood.
