I sometimes have a cutting out on acceleration and I can let up on it a little and then go ahead and it will run OK.. Is this caused by heat or do you think its a clogged fuel fulter and pump acting up??

Mr. "perking" problem,

I would have to say your trouble may be fuel related or maybe timing.

You could have a leaking carb. as in the case of Tom Holes origional carb.
which we took off. It could be starving in the case of a clogged filter
but it would probobly take more than letting up on the pedal to straighten
out. It would also limit the top end speed if the trouble were clogged
feed of some sort.

I peuking or out of adjustment carb. would act like that.

If your timing were too advanced the vacuum advance would bogg the engine
until you let up on the gas which would bring up the vacuum. Disconnect
the vacuum & see if it gets any better, of course it will run a bit
different when the vacuum adv. is discummected but you are looking for a
change in the certain characteristic.

If this changes the performance for the better, reconnect the vacuum adv.
and retard the timing a bit. I like to time an older engine (like the ones
we have) by ear and performance. If the motor has been rebuilt, the
factory spec. should only be used as a starting point. If the engine has
been modified, that may not even apply.

Good luck Mr. Phelps, and as always if you or any of your Mission
Impossible force are killed or captured, this office will disavow all
knowledge of your existance. This message will self distruct in 5
seconds!!!!!

Emory,

Thanks, I did want him to do that. This shows your detailed approach to a
situation. Thanks for making my thoughts clearer.
