GMCMI newlsetter 64, discusses the Perfomance Friction carbon metallic
pads (0524 and 6144 oversized) as providing improved braking for our
GMCs. Any one have a negative experience with these? Where are folks
buying these pads these days? And about how much are they a set (two
wheels)? Who else other than Pefomance Friction makes carbon metallic
pads for the GMC? Thanks.

I have had considerable experience with the Performance Friction line of brake
equipment, as I have installed both the front pads and the rear shoes on my 77
Birchaven. I am very impressed with the performance of this equip. I have no
scientific studie to sight, but I feel that my braking power has been greatly
enhanced. I believe this would be a very advantageous addition for someone
towing a vehicle. I purchased my pads and shoes from Chuck Kokesh. I have
forgotten the cost, but consider them a very wise purchase. Chuck's phone number

Phil:

The oversize set for the front wheels, p/n 1534, is ~ $38.00 + tax @ Auto
Zone. The p/n 0524 from Auto Zone is ~$27.00 + tax.

I'm not aware of any other manufacturer than Performance Friction for them.
