The Group have you on the right track in replacing your Fan Clutch
w/Hayden #2797, plug & play. If you don't hear your fan clutch when
engine gets hot (above 3/8 Temperature Mark, OEM Gauge & Sender) it is
time to replace. Keep receipt for lifetime replacement...they do wear
out. New out of the box does not mean it is good...must hear the noise
at morning start up & w/hot engine.
You must get the temperature down before working the Vapor Lock
problem...may be fixed. Also check your Ignition Timing for proper
setting, 8 degrees BTDC at Idle speed, Vacuum plugged. Verify Vacuum &
Centrifugal advance with Timing lite & hand vacuum pump.

PS: I have been over that Road many times w/hot outside & my OEM Gauge
is never over the 5/16 mark (needle width above the normal temperature
mark of 1/4)
