Help,
I have a problem with my " Original woodwork "
seeping a substance ( GLUE? ) through the vaneer.
I have washed it down with household cleaners
but it seems to return after a few days. Anyone
else have this problem? The rasied panel doors
seem to be the worst. I plan to replace these
doors in the future...But might not get around
to that project till next summer....
Thanks,

Glue does not seep through veneer. Probably someone has tried to refinish
the wood and used a cheap linseed oil varnish on them and it is now breaking
down. Put a little paint thinner on a cloth and wipe them down, it should
take off the varnish and stop it but might also take off some of the stain.
Try it in an area that is not to noticable.

I can't imagine the glue would still be fluid after 24 years. Perhaps it
is some varnish or stain someone added. Is it possible the cleaners have
a solvent that facilitates the residue to flow?

Whatever it is you may have to apply a sealer to contain it. I thought
the cabinets were solid wood. Do yours have a veneer instead?

David,
Yes My cabinets are vaneered and the Raised
panels seem to be also. a friend of mine is
a cabinet builder and he said the doors are
contact paper with a woodgrain, That the
adhesive used to apply it is seeping
through the paper. You cant see it but
if you run your hand over it feels kind
of sticky. I have used serveral cleaners
on it. But the stickyness returns in a few days.
