Doing rear brake insp. found the parking brake strut & the spring broken, if
I were to go to the local bone yard, what make & year vehicle would I ask
for parts from?
In '77 parts book it's #6 shows part # 2623595 Kit-strut, parking brake. As
this doesn't normally brake don't suppose it would be available from NAPA or
other.
Thanks, Peg

Peg--
I have replaced my original parking brake system with a hydraulic MicroLoc from
Harrison so all the parts of the original are "garage filler" to me. You would
be welcome to have the parts you need if you want them for the price of shipping
HOWEVER I'm leaving for Albuquerque in a few days and I don't know if I'll have
time to get it off and packaged before leaving. I'll be back by Nov. 1st; if
you want it under these circumstances let me know.

Peg I'm looking for this same part. I have called GM parts and was told that
part was discontinued in 1991. I got a part which is supposed to be the same but
it anchors to the brake shoe differently( has a tab that goes thru hole in shoe
instead of pin) If I can't find right piece am going to put it back together and
run anyway as emergency brake has never worked anyhow. Haven"t checked with
Cinnebar yet, but will as soon as I work my way around to it. Let me know if you
find it somewhere.

Gary the brake piece she and I need is the same as shown in the parts book. The
one you sent me ,besides being for the wrong side is different as the pin shown at
the upper end of thepart is not there. In looking at the shoes you sent me I can
see that they attach by means of tab that goes thru shoe. My wide shoes have no
hole to attach to, I don"t know about hers. This is the only piece I have been
unable to replace . If you should have one w/pin for left side I could use
it. I'm going to button it up anyway while I look for part as E-brake has never
worked

I've noticed some of the type parts you're looking for, not necessarily
saying you'll find yours there, are found in the auto parts stores that
carry a brand called HELP, that are packaged in "bubble packs" and displayed
on rotating peg board type stands.

Sorry, Bill. The plates all have tabs, no pins. I can send you the opposite-handed
plate with tabs if you want it???

Thanks Gary, but those parts won't work with my setup I just put it back together w/o
emergency brake. If I find the right parts later I can always add them. Never had good
emergency brake anyway.
