Hi,

anyone know which old radios work in the original speaker configuration,
ie. with a single ground for all?

I'd love to have a radio with 8-track to fit into my '73.

All the earlier GM radios will work. Crutchfiield has adapters which will allow the use of a modern radio.

Aw Chit Peer,

A while ago I gave just such a beast away. I will look for another here somewhere, I know I had it at one time. No promise as to actual condition.

Yes, it will work. Note also, the old radio opening is just one DIN high. A bit of judicious bendins of the tabs the old radio knobs mounted through
and you have the width for a one DIN.

I thought the factory radio expected 10 ohm speakers?

That being the case, run original stereo with original speakers, or new
stereo with new speakers. One may be able to run new speakers in parallel
off of an old radio.

If anyone is able to link me some eBay or other places with a special working old stereo, I am all set. I do not want to rewire the speakers for now.

I have my original radio. I will have to check if it has 8 track. I dont
think so.

New radio with old speakers - Crutchfield adaptor. Old (OEM) radio with new spealers - As Will pointed out, they must be 10 Ohm speakers to work
correctly. Found on Amazon.
