I am purchasing a GMC motorhome next summer and I'm curious how bouncy
the back bunk is when going down the road. A friend of mine has a 36
foot sob and we couldn't stay on the bed to sleep. We were constantly
thrown into the air and on to the floor.

If it's any comfort to you, weekend before last on a trip from NW
Indiana to Racine WI, my 86 year old mother-in-law rode in the rear of
the coach on the twin bed and told me when we arrived that she had
fallen asleep on the trip!

We have a 26 foot Kingsley. Although it is never really safe to ride on the
beds in the motorhome while someone is driving down the road, we
occasionally have to. Our experience is that the highway is wonderful
sleeping [especially with the window cracked open]. We have a child who
routinely gets motion sick and the bed has been a wonderful thing as has the
bathroom/shower. The GMC's are a heavy motorhome as motorhomes go and
the upward bouncing has been nonexistent in our case. Some of the GMC's
have a significant amount of front end wander and some don't. This can make
a rider in the back a little nervous with an inexperienced driver. Try it
out on your test drive. Also there is a big difference with a good mattress

When we do what we call a "Power Trip" (long distance non-stop), my wife
& I trade off driving. While she drives, I read or sleep in the back.
The difference between the GMC & many SOB's is the overhang from the
rear wheels to the back of the coach. Our GMC is very comfortable in
the rear of the coach even underway. We have replaced the rear Goucho
with a permanent bed similar to the setup detailed on Patrick's web
site.

Steve: You'll hear some road noise from rough payment and the seams--
other than that if you're tired you'll get some shut eye. There is hardly
any bounce, however depending upon the driver and wind gusts it may sway
somewhat. Nothing to get excited about.
