Look Pa, everybody is out of step except Tom
I too was "corrected" about my knowledge in a field that I spent 10 years as
the engineer in charge of system analysis, design, development and
production. After the second "correction", I now limit my opinions off line
directly to the GMC net individual who ask the question and let them decide.
Tom aggressive responses on so many subjects has ruined the open GMCnet
forum for me.
I now look at the From Line and use the delete button accordingly. I found
that in a volunteer organizations, there is a vast difference in social
norms and some I can choose to ignore. I tend to listen more to those who
are in the business of doing things correctly. When there is a vast
difference of opinion, it usually means that there is not much difference in
the outcome if either opinion is followed. A lot of times, there is not
right and wrong way to do things, just better, worse or even equal but not
necessarily the same. When it comes to safety, I tend to follow those who
can lose a lot in litigation for a incorrect recommendation.
The GMCnet has been, and I hope will continue to be, a great information
source for me in maintaining, and sometimes improving, a 25 year old vehicle
that we have enjoyed and have become rather attached to. So far, we have
traveled 25,000 trouble free miles in the last three years and plan on
wearing out and replacing a lot of things over the next years. The GMC has
been a lot more expensive to maintain than our SOB, but the satisfaction and
pleasure has been well worth the additional cost.
