>This one has really thrown me. I have read volumes of information
concerning the front wheel bearing and spacer set.
Jim at Golby says they only sell a one piece wheel bearing which is
permantly lubricated. Claims they have sold 300 sets in the year, they will
last about 100,000 miles and cannot be repacked.

Cinnabar says they never heard of such athing and only their bearings are
good enough anyway and they should be replaced every 25,000 miles. Comments
that the info from Golby must be mistaken.

Any body got any real info on this ?

Thanks

they must be installing a version of the Wallace bearing set. There is no
indication that they are superior to the cinnabar set. They are also very
expensive and attempt to fix a problem that does not really exist.

Tom,

This bearing was described as a replacement for the the two bearing and
spacer set. A lot of current Front wheel drive cars are fitted with a one
piece bearing,
As to the expense the cost of the bearing was appx $80 so it is no more
expensive than the standard. Then if you buy the Cinnibar statement that
you sould replace the bearings every 25,000 and the other type should
100,000 there is no comparison.
Sounds too good to be true which means it probably is. I can't imagine that
they have sold 300 and no one has mentioned it.
Is this a hoax ?

I hae serious doubts that there is a bearing that replaces the one that we
presently use and we have not heard about it. IN addition I do not think
that the cinnabar bearings have to be replaced every 25K miles. Packed with
mobil 1 lubricant they can be repacked every 25K miles and should last the
life of the coach.

I have Bower bearings on my coach. I installed them about 75K miles ago. I repack
them every 25K or so w/Amsoil grease. I have an airforce mechanic who states they
inspect wheel bearings at prescribed intervals. If all looks OK, they repack &
reuse. He thinks it is ridiculous to replace for no apparent reason.
