When I first did it, I would hook the power lead on the alternator stud. That is not easy and not very safe.
Later I would pass the power leads out to the front along the A/C line track. That is safer but a moderate PITA.
Then I made up a plug with two separated terminal for the leads to grab.
With the new dial a degree light (from HF) and the gun sight in the bell housing, I put a lighter plug (I actually hate them) right on the power cord.
