Here is a link to an Onan training tape on troubleshooting the PowerDrawer generator. I'm not sure where I saw this link, but I searched here and
could not find it. It if was recently posted here, I apologize.

Its a great old video that I have never seen before on how to troubleshoot and set things like governor and carb.

Great video with a couple errors. The graphic has RMP instead of RPM, and at one point they mention the high speed mixture screw where it seems they
should be referring to the low speed mixture screw. They also seem to weight freq over voltage trim whereas today most find the voltage most important
to trim for.

At least they took the time to help the community.
I can appreciate the mistakes as you can see tons of that type of error on
our web site.

Thanks Matt. I'll remember that if my Onan ever quits.

I just used this to tinker with my onan. at 63 hz, i'm 134v. How do you
reduce voltage, yet maintain frequency?

It is a volts per hertz machine - they are inextricably tied together. Slow the engine down a little as JimK said.

Do all voltage and frequency testing on ONAN generators with approximately
50% load. If it is close on frequency (50 - 60 hz) and the voltage is under
130 v ac or so, you should be fine. No load checks will always be a bit
higher. No cause for alarm where you presently are.

Adjust the Idle jet and the main back and forth little at a time.

You cannot. Voltage and frequency are directly related to RPM.

I adjust my voltage to 128 v at no load. This gives me about 120 v with an aircontioner and mucrowave both running.

Thanks all. I do the same. The video is slightly misleading in that regard,
giving preference to frequency. I will stick with voltage

Stick your digital volt meter into your household receptacle sometime,
morning, mid afternoon and early evening. I think you will be surprised at
the voltage variation. The frequency stays fairly constant. Some of the
more modern gensets hold voltage and frequency a bit better than the ONAN
from the 70's.

RV parks power supply vary a lot as they say: Flux you Asians.
Not politically correct, but I don't care.

If you have a copy of the Data DVD I made. In the videos directory is that Onan video. It is one of the Dealer training videos I converted from the
slide shows they used to train the service techs. I guess someone posted it to YouTube.
