Onan starter and parts

This is what Duane has kup on my web page about the starter. let me know if

Onan Starter Information
$205 is the cost of a new Starter,not rebuilt, at my local Onan supply.
Local shops can also
rebuilt your starter at about $150. Best buy is a new starter which has a
new clutch assembly
which is not included w/rebuilt unit. Onan P/N 191-1949-03 will fit 6 & 4
KW units. Be sure
to check the mounting surface for possible interference. A slight file or
grind may be required for
proper fit. The Original starter P/N has been obsoleted & may not have a
replacement noted so
don't lose this number. Also, Ragusa Products have a heavy duty cast
steel, stronger than OEM,
starter bracket if one is needed. About 1/3 cost at Onan.Duane.

Hello David,
I was only looking for the car or application that the solenoid was used
on. As it turned out, the solenoid I got off the 79 Colt (Mitsubishi) was
the same and worked like a champ. Total cost $5 at an Ecology Auto
Wreckers. (Pull your own parts) Makes me wonder if some of the same parts
would interchange on the starter itself.
Thanks for the information. If I ever need a whole starter, I'll get
back with you for sure.
