Onan rear bearing

I bought an Onan 6K to replace the one missing the board, starter, exhaust, etc.
On the rear there is a visible bearing, the dust cover is gone and there only seems to be about half as many ball bearings in it as there should be.
Onan ran fine, but seems I should address this while out. Searching forum archives I found someone asked for this part number as well, but didn't find
any reply. Also found a picture of it for reference.

Part numbers and any tips, instructions or whatever are appreciated. As well as what else I should check over before re-install. It has been
de-carboned and the pertronix ignition put on.

The Onan 6kw NH Operator and Parts manual, page 39, shows the bearing is Onan part# 510-0047. I have in my notes that this is a 6205 and some google sleuthing of the Onan# seems to confirm it. Various -xx suffixes of 6205-xx will dictate the type of seals/shields in the bearing.

This particular part doesn’t really have a lot to do in life other than to prevent radial displacement of the armature under increasing electrical load conditions.

I have the Onan I am taking out loose from the mounts, but the wires are not as straightforward as I hoped to unhook. Try again in the light tomorrow.
Seems like bolted to coach, and bolted to genny.

And...to remove the "bell" to get to this bearing, is it just a cover, or will I be messing with the electrical stuff to get access? I read the manual
on a full service, but I've never been into one of these before. Any tips or simplified "look for this" suggestions?

keep track of the little tab. it may go flying.

there are brushes to deal with, you may want to replace the brushes while in there. I think you end up taking the brushes out before you take that
blue plate/end cover off. also take a good look at the field coil for corrosion and try to clean that up.

as far as removing, I used a socket, a piece of flat stock and 2-C-clamps. it was stuck, but when I put some pressure on it, and tapped with hammer
it came loose/off. (blue plate).

however getting the bearing off the shaft is another problem. I don't have a puller that fits well, and I have not been successful in removing the
bearing yet from the shaft. My field coil is bad, so I may end up parting out my onan, as I found a 2800 microlite that I am pretty sure i will end
up using. So I may never take the bearing off of mine.

If you have a bad field and the engine still runs well, you might contact Jim Miller about rewinding it. That machine is considerably less powerful
than the NH 6.0 Onan.

Jim and I have talked. he has a good product, and I was seriously considering going that route. The RPM of the microlite bothers me, but not the
wattage. 2800 watts will be plenty for my use. My changes in the coach has really reduced my power needs. new A/C unit, and no more electric
waterheater. I won't be able to run both roof A/C's at the same time, but there is rarely an occasion that I ever want to, and probably do not
really Need to.

Several years back I went to the Cummins-Onan shop in S Atlanta to get some stuff and talk to the tech who serviced our big gensets. We walked into
the shop and i noticed a stack of MicroLights in the corner in various stages of disassembly. His comment was, the 3600 sets break a lot. Friend has
one under his dog - hauler van to run the A/C at show sites. It has been troublesome continually. I think I have one in my shop I took out of one of
our promotions vans.
Unless they have greatly increased the reliability of these toys, I'd pass in favor of Freight, Harbor. In your case, I'd heal the 6KW and go about
my binniss. YMMV.
