Onan oil leaks

1) My Onan 4kw gen. has oil all over it. As far as I can tell it is due
mostly to the oil dip stick not sealing good.

Eric, I had the same problem and finally discovered that I was not pushing
the dip stick hard enough into the tube to get a good seal. On my Onan you
really have to push hard on the dip stick and it will and it will pop into
place.

While a major cause of oil leaks in an Onan 6 is the oil pressure switch,
oil will splash out of the crankcase when the engine is running and the
combo dipstick/ cap is removed.The reason for this in non-technical terms
is very simple: the crankcase is shallow and the combo dipstick/ cap
opening is large..
