Anyone know the automotive part number equivalents for the 4 kw Onan oil
filter? And is oil usage by the genset normal? Thanks in advance...

As always, best regards.

Just bought a WIX 51374. I have not put it on the generator yet but plan to
do so this weekend. I used the Onan filet number and cross ref. to this Win
number. Good luck
My gen. burns a bit of oil, but not worth tearing down.

If you are planning to use a plain auto filter in place of the
onan model, be advised, IIRC: that the Onan engine does not have
an built-in oil bypass valve, that bypasses in the event that the oil
filter becomes "clogged". the by-pass valve is made into the filter
itself. thus the "inflated" price of the onan part. the auto filter
does not have this bypass valve.
I questioned this myself, and after my last oil change, I cut the onan
filter apart, along with an standard auto filter, and the bypass valve
is indeed there in the Onan part, and missing in the standard filter,
so use the standard filter with care....

FWIW:
I stayed with the Onan part, and oil change schedule.
