There's some funky engineering, eh?
I assume that the control board won't let the Onan start if the sender isn't
grounded before engine cranking?
Otherwise, a broken (open) wire would provide no oil loss protection.
If the sender were ground on pressure, the circuit would be supervised, and
a wiring fault would stop the Onan same as loss of oil.
Enlighten me. Now I gotta know, and when it comes to this beast, You 'da
MAN!

|The GMC Onan oil pressure switch must be a "Normally Closed" type to
|function properly with the control board. Take the original Pressure
|switch to you local Auto parts store & they can match it with the proper
|switch arrangement (contact closed w/o pressure... measure it at the
|counter).
| Since it took so long for your Onan to shut down, I suspect that your
|Control Board's Low Oil Pressure (LOP) is not functional. Simple
|verification test as follows: with Onan running, jumper terminal #1 to
|Terminal # 12 (right side of switch on board). If all is well, the Onan
|should stop in 3 to 4 seconds. This is a very important safety function
|& should be verified before you smoke your engine do to lack of Oil.
