Franz - I am fairly certain that the hookup is shown in the GMC
maintenance manual. I haven't looked it up but if I recall there are
just two leads. A hot lead and a ground lead.

I replaced my hour meter with one from Grainger. You don't have a meter, but I
would assume that the necessary wiring is already there. I think the meter was
an option, but I think they would have the cable harness in place for it.

That's how mine is wired. I also have a primer switch (as described at Gene's excellent web site) and when I press the button to prime the Onan the light comes on and the hobbs meter starts running. The primer switch/button is a good thing to have and easy to install.

If you had not thought of installing the primer switch go to:

Good luck and as some say "Happy Onaning"
Richard

> For Richard Waters: IIRC there were 4 wires on the back side of the start/stop switch. I am at the library in town so can't look now. Someone gave the idea of hooking into the light behind the start/stop toggle for the hour meter and that is what I intend to do. None of the auto stores in town had hour meters and so went to an off road store and they ordered one for tomorrow a.m.
