Onan generator

I recently purchased a 77 Royale and have been soaking up as much information as I can here on the forum. It's great to have so much experience to
learn from.
My starter was making a lot of noise and found that the bracket had been welded several times. I purchased a new one from Ragusa and even more noise
was made, found out that the end bushing was all but gone. A new bushing is being made and machining the armature shaft. This should be finished
Monday.
Now to the fuel pump. When I hook up the battery next to the generator I can here the fuel pump turn on! I don't need a fire with fuel pumping
everywhere. The owner I purchased it from said it worked fine before he welded the bracket and that may have caused a problem. I have checked the
solenoid and appears to be working correctly but not sure if the wires are insatlled correctly on it. Have been unable to find a picture showing where
the wires go. Any thoughts of where to look next are appreciated.

Good start on the sigfile.

What you are describing could be either a mis-connection of the control board, or a failure of the control board. In any case, if you have not
downloaded the Onan manuals, go get them at B'dub's. Check the connections first. I am not sure how this could happen, but there is a lot that I do
not know. If you can't get that hammered flat, then go to: http://www.gmcws.org/Tech/dsimmons/onan/onan.html And work with what the late/great Duane
Simmons left us. As a possible (and frequent) correction, look or get one from JimK. These old machines are actually
simple, but can be confusing.

A sticking relay on the control board can cause this, as can miswiring. Check the wiring first.
