I went to Radio Shack and purchased new capacitors
for C1, C3 and C4, soldered them in and it has been
running fine for a number of years now. I don't recall
if I replaced C2 or not.
Emory:
Although Radio Shack can be a good source for these
parts If you need this stuff take a look at the Electronics
suppliers (somebody like Cardinal) in your area. When
I replaced the diodes on my circuit board recently I was
pleasantly surprised to find that the diodes were only
$0.05 each and that was in Canadian Dollars!!!!
You are testing me on this electrical circuit stuff though
with the reference to the C2 capacitor. I find no reference
to that capacitor on the circuit board, not on 24C-49 of the
motorhome manual, or on page 26 of the Onan Parts
catalog.
The only references that I can find (motorhome manual
24C-47, figure 90 and Onan major service manual page
46) seem to indicate that C2 is the capacitor at the ignition
coil.
Is that where C2 is located?
If nothing else this discussion served to remind me that
when working on the Onan to check the Motorhome
Manual. Although clearly the information presented in
the motor home manual is copied from the Onan manual,
some of it was better presented by GM!
When it comes to the control board none of the above
manuals would be much good to me without Duanes
handout.
With all the manuals and Duanes handout I may eventually
even understand what is supposed to happen on the control
board!!
Given the Y2K boarder crossing problems caused by
potential terrorists I am hoping that I don't have to send
my control board to Duane.
Understandably, the customs officials are a little extra
cautious right now but I would hate for the next control board
study you see to be on CNN by some terrorism expert.
