Did anyone ever find a replacement air filter that would fit the 6.0
besides the K & N? I paid $22 for original (140-1229) Onan filter from the
local dealer the other day. There's just gotta be a less expensive source
for these.

Thanks

Bill,
I looked thru my newsletters from GMCMI and issue 53 on page 3 had an
article by a member stating that "a Purolator filter, part no. VA3080
fits the 6kw generator. The filter is larger and open on both ends. The
member also found that the top from a one quart paint can and a large
flat washer made for a good fit for the bottom of the filter". Cost of
this filter is probably under 5 dollars at most auto parts stores and
probably any filter that crosses with the Purolator filter would work.
(My comments!)

I don't have a 6KW, but I have the 4KW. I took the old filter number to my
auto parts store owner and he found a replacement part that was a lot less
expensive. Thankfully, I didn't have to purchase a portion Onan
Incorporated.

Ok,
What Make and Model number did you use?

Thanks John, I may try that before paying such a high price again.

Would you mind posting the brand and part number?

I'll try em tomorrow Russ. I'm gonna feel real stupid if they got it.

Thanks

That is the cross for the Purolator part number VA3080 which is reported to
fit the 6KW Onan.
