The buggy now has new cells all around, even the toad.

Lugged a couple of 31's into the front (biggest that would fit) and have
confirmed that Boost switch top pushed in is the normal position.

Confirmed it by having to replace 10amp fuse before radio worked when boost
switch in normal (off) position.

Having the boost battery back online now also enables me to start the genset
from a non-coach battery. Until I did I couln't get enough oomph until I
started the engine so had the genset connected to rear coach as a temp but
that lowered the inverter voltage enough so that all computers came crashing
down as the 110 dropped momentarily.

Hopefully now it's just a matter of keeping an eye on my loktite'd
alternator nut and the nut behind the wheel.

BTW, thank you all re the comments on waterpump flow. Very interesting and
informative and makes the mind rest a little easier about that part of the
good ol' GMC.
