Omnistor tensioning rod mount pictures?

Can someone that has the new Omnistor Awnings post (or e-mail me) a picture of the tensioning rod mounting brackets?

I think they are missing from my awning, but not sure what they look like or if they are supposed to be already attached. I opened mine up for the first time this weekend and couldn't find a way to attach the rods. The awning sure looks good though and is a breeze to open:)

I have been trying for over 6 months to get those instructions from
Carefree of Colorado without any luck. They did send me instructions for
entirely different style of Awning and they gave up and have not replied
to my last email about these. There are two black plastic recepticals
with counter sunk heads that came with my awning. How they attach or
where they attach is still a mystery to me. Perhaps someone on the net
has figured it out or gotten proper instructions regarding the
installation of the two pieces.0

I never did understand the instructions either. Furthermore, I didn't like
the way they did, or potentially could work. So I bought the arched
aluminum rafters from Camping World and am now happy. They DO stretch the
fabric, but they also ensure that water can't collect on the awning,
destroying the whole thing. Their mounting arrangement was no great shakes
either; I would up drilling a hole in the inside of the awning cover for
each rafter to receive the alignment pin on one end and removing the
alignment pin on the coach side.

I'll try to find the unused brackets if you want them, Eugene.

If you go to my website http://www.richies.net and click on the "Repairs
and Modifications" then "The ARK gets a Legless OMNISTOR" links. Scroll
down to the bottom of the page and click on "More Fun On the Roof".

Near the end of the writing, in the paragraph that starts off "Here's a
group of photographs that shows most everything" there's a few comments
and then the pictures underneath show the actual mounting of both
pieces.They are approximately centered...but close the awning most of
the way and you can see how the extension arms collapse.

I'm not positive that this is absolutely according to the rules but it
works.

In fairness I must say that I personally don't find the awning stiffener
such a great rig and am seriously considering what Ken has done in
buying the Camperworld solution. That said I must say that the one
advantage (or at least something I like) of the rod is that it does not
streeeeetch the fabric. In rain I simply drop one end a bit...seems to
work well. Ken's advantage is that he gets to leave things alone except
when is starts to blow ...but we all have to put 'em away then or play
wrap over the roof ....which is rather hard on the extension arms etc.

Oops. I forgot to mention ...

Take special care that the mounting screw on the box side tension bar
receiver does not protrude through and into the area where there is even
the slightest chance of it making contact with the rolling up of the
awning fabric (see photos of that receiver).

If it does you will not be happy on your next outing!!!

While I certainly hope I never have an awning deployed in 70 mph winds
again, as I did in Idaho a few years back, I don't worry a *lot* about
moderate breezes. I *always* put screw anchors in the ground at about 6'
diagonally from the corners of the awning and tie the ends of the outer
awning box to those anchors with taut 5/16" nylon ropes. That, with the
arched rafters, secures the awning pretty well but the fabric's still loose
to flap at the ends. On more conventional awings with end arms, I always
used bungee-tightened clamps between the fabric and the awnings; the
resultant drum head didn't flap. That's the one thing I miss on the
Omnistor.

I mounted mine just above the beltline. Deploy the awning about 3
feet, drop the supports ensuring they are perpendicular to the ground,
swing the foot to the location on the side of the coach where want to
mount the support brackets and mark the holes. Drill & mount. I
chose this location because of horizontal brace that runs just above
the belt line. You should be finished at this stage. The foot just
slips into the support bracket. It is not really necessary to mount
those brackets however, you can always stake the supports to the
ground. I can take a photo or two if this isn't clear.

After reading through Eugene's post I think the tension bar mounts are
what he is talking about but may be the awning tension "legs". If so
these can also be seen on the same page be seen (at least where I put
them). Most others have mounted them higher.

I finally found them! Since the 4.5 m awning only comes with one rafter,
I've only got the single pair of in- and out- brackets. I think you can use
the in- as an out- if you want to do what I did before I got the arched
rafters: Use a rubber clutch tip on the inner end. It rests against the
upright that Omnistor specified for mounting the in- bracket. I didn't
trust the awning material to stay away from the protruding screw, so I used
the crutch tip. Worked good.
