Hi Guys, Not related to my GMC, but my Honda Element. Since there is such a great wealth of knowledge here maybe this will help to select my oils

Can some1 plz explain to my what the difference is between these 2 types.

No1 = Mobil 1 120763 Synthetic Motor Oil 5W-20, 5 Quart ( Cost $50) 8o

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00J00X7QK?pd_rd_i=B00J00X7QK&psc=1&pd_rd_w=WeWh5&pd_rd_wg=qsq1R&pd_rd_r=d450789f-e131-11e7-b4e9-758a4aece903&ref_=pd_luc_rh_sbs_03_03_t_img_lh

No2 = Mobil 1 (120768) High Mileage 5W-20 Motor Oil - 5 Quart ( Cost $25 ) :)

https://www.amazon.com/Mobil-120768-Mileage-5W-20-Motor/dp/B00JTUBP8I/ref=sr_1_1?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1513298881&sr=1-1&keywords=mobil+1+high+mileage+5w-20

I always believed that the high milage was for engines over 75/100K, Not sure why No1 is almost 2 the cost of No2 ...

Since my Honda Element comes in around 93K what's best to use...

Muncho Thanks !

Both those oils are too thin for GMC except in very cold weather opperation. 10w-30 or 10w-40 or 5w-40 are better types. I have no skin in game but
only run 5w-40 Rotella full synthetic T6 with no problems. Good cold flow after long sitting times. Price is $21 gallon on sale.
Most hi mileage oils have gasket sealing agents to swell gaskets. No thanks.

Hi Marc,

I think you are just seeing supply and demand pricing on Amazon. The higher priced items are from third-party sellers and Amazon either doesn't sell
that variety or is out of it. So the whoever the third party is is going to jack up the price and sell it for what they can.

With respect to the oil for your Honda, I run the High Mileage 5W30 in my old Ford 460 to good effect. The High Mileage is indeed to compensate for
the possibility of leaky seals; something Honda engines are typically not known for, though I presume no ill effect from running it.

Don't know where you live, and I just picked up a couple of those 5 quart bottles at the Walmart at Normandie and 190th in Torrance. They had pallets
of Mobil 1 in the 5 quart bottles in the $28ish range.

Good luck,

Tom Newell

Did you notice the word “synthetic” in the first?

That is a much better oil and you can go more miles between chamges who’s partially offsets the price.

Where are you pricing the Mobil 1. Walmart sells it for about half of the price you are showing.

That’s right. And the words “Mobil 1” are not in the description of the second oil he listed.

Emery,

Are you sure?

Marc,

Three Questions:
1 - Is the Honda Element consuming much if any lube oil between changes?
2 - How many miles a year do you usually put on the Honda Element?
3 - What is your current lube oil service interval Months/Miles for the Element?

Mobil 1 is good stuff, but it is not always the best choice.

I skipped over the word "not" for GMC. Being on the GMC forum I assumed and you know what happens then. Never mind.

I don't bother with high mileage oil? Maybe it helps old seals that are starting to leak? My 1995 Toyota truck with 260,000 miles does just fine with
10 -30 Walmart super tech oil at 3 to 4 thousand on an oil change it is still clean doesn't burn any and doesn't leak a drop. I use Mobil one 5-30 in
my trailblazer and change at 6,000 miles with 113,000 on it and it doesn't use oil either forget the expense of mi mileage oil for old cars if they
don't have oil leak problems.

Hi Everyone and thanks for all the input. Since My Honda ELement 2010 does not leak and has only 92K Miles. It sounds that either options are good
for it.

I will swing by walmart and get myself some oil on special price.

again thanks so munch, really appreciated !

On your Honda I would run mobile 1 5w30.
Get it at Costco when it is on sale for $10 less per case of 6.
On your oil cap it should be printed 5w30.
Even though it's synthetic, I still change my Toyota and her Honda every 5,000 Miles.
Each engine have 180,000 miles apiece and have never been in need of repair.
Good luck, scott
