Oil Loss vs Engine Shutdown!

I may be off the wall, but I would rather see some kind of check valve
that would stop oil cirulating to the cooler in case of oil pressure
drop. That way I could still have my power steering AND brakes.

I'm afraid if the loss of power occurred on the downward side of some
huge western mountain I would rather lose the engine than the rest of the
package. It may or may not be feasible but since I am licensed as
Incompetent, I can suggest wild schemes with out fear of ridicule!
