FWIW Fritz Slamma (long time Deere Dealership owner & veeeery
knowledgeable GM mechanic) presented several cutaway oil filters a few
years ago at one of the conventions. The Fram was held together was a
string!!!!! The AC/Delco had the best construction.

Concerning oil: Consumer Reports not long ago did a study which claimed
that ALL oils, even Wally World, were virtually identical. They had NO
preference.

I used to use Pennzoil oil & Fram filters. I have switched to AC/Delco
filters & cheeeeeap oil. My engine has 180,000 miles on it.

I'm sure many will disagree; that's what makes the world go 'round.

I know my memory is fading but seem to remember an engineering report a
short time ago that evaluated oils. Very different chemistry for oils on
east and west coast, ie; pennsylvannia and Arabian oils. Anyone else
remember it?

Yes, it was posted here I believe by one of us. I have it on my other
computer and will repost if you would like.

Consumer Reports, in my experience, is sometimes way off base on some of
their tests. In testing products that I am deeply involved in, such as
security systems for 25 years, their conclusions do not agree with my
experiences.
It seems that sometimes they do not get reseachers that are qualified and
experienced in the area that they are testing. They also seem to have built
in bias on auto and vehicle reviews. Just my .02.
