You raise a good point, however, was the oil cooling adapter to oil filter base a hard metal to metal fit or did it have an oil
filter gasket between them? If that was the case it is unlikely that the extension that retains the oil cooler adapter to the oil
filter was torqued to 55 ft lb.
Having noted that your suggestion isn't a bad idea; would anyone that has installed the Dorman or Parker Hannifin o-ring check their
extension and see what you find.
