Morning,

does any official statement exist as to the maximum amount of towing
weight allowed for a GMC MotorHome?

I found in Owners manual X7680A on page 9 about towing:

"The maximum loaded trailer weight
which you can pull with your vehicle
depends on what special equipment has
been installed. GMC does not recommend
towing any trailer OVER l ,000 POUNDS
GROSS TRAILER WEIGHT unless the
vehicle HAS THE REQUIRED
EQUIPMENT"

It doesn't mention what "required equipment" is, but many routinely tow much more.

For Germany I need official GM statements. I know what people tow in the US, but German authority needs official stuff from the manufacturer :-(

The only GM publication I know of is in the 1973 Owner’s Manual X7321A and X7321C (I don’t have X7321B but it must be the same as the A and C are the same.

It shows

“ The maximum loaded trailer weight which
the Motor Home can pull is 2000 pounds. GMC DOES NOT RECOMMEND TOWING ANY
TRAILER UNLESS THE MOTOR HOME IS
PROPERLY EQUIPPED."

It goes on to say
" Trailer brakes are required on trailers
over 1,000 lbs . loaded weight."

This probably doesn’t help you as many GMCers pull toads that weigh far more than 2000 pounds.
Bob Dunahugh has reported towing his trailer which is load at over 10,000 pounds.
But I don’t think that there is any published information except the above.
