Off like a dirty shirt

OK, I just went on the test ride of today's labors. IMAGINING what a
difference that little valve made in the heater hose! Nice to feel cool...
OK well... outside air for a change.

Next the aluminum foil bubble wrap on the doghouse made a BIG difference. I
put one layer all around under the dog house and two layers on the doghouse
itself. WHAT A DIFFERENCE! The doghouse is cool to the touch and the sides
are just slightly warm. Two layers REALLY does the trick. I'll use this dual
layer setup for my roof insulation for sure. I cleaned the black surface
first with lacquer thinner then used 3M Super77 spray on adhesive and it
appears to be sticking well under the intense heat of the engine
compartment. Time will tell. BTW... don't breath this stuff... yuk!

The steering is great except now the shift lever blocks the DigiPanel |-( I
can live w/that.
OK you drop column guys... how did ya get the shift selector to read right?
Mine is way off now.

I think the more I do to the "Sweat Lodge" the better she gets and the more
comfortable I am becoming with her. Too bad we had such a rocky start in the
relationship! :-}

Good thing the wife doesn't know...

Are you talking about the stuff that they have in rolls at HomeBase, Home
Depot, Eagle- Lowes??

I haven't dropped my steering column, but IIRC from working on other GM
steering columns there is a little cable attached to the shift indicator. A
metal clip holds the other end of that cable to the part of the steering
column that moves with the selector lever - you can adjust the shift
indicator by moving the clip.
I just found a picture of the "Gear Indicator Cable" on page 12-4 of the
maintenance manual (X7525).
Make sure your shift lever adjustment at the transmission is correct. I
found out that I couldn't manually select "low"
(1st) while going down a steep grade. Scary!

Hi Nate,

Yeah I put the bubble warp on the underside of my engine hatch but none on
top, Might try that.
The gear indicator has a string/cable attached to it and to column itself
right below the gear indicator you should see a screw/clip on right side of
column that can be adjusted to align pointer.

Nate. The shift selector is adjustable. There is a cable attached to the
part of the steering column that rotates when the shift arm is moved.
You may have seen this when you were working on the column. Loosen the
screw and slacken or tighten the cable as needed. I believe the screw is
up behind the panel under the column itself. Darren

I found out the samething lastnight.... no low. What did you do on this one,
Peter? It was getting dark and I had to get up at 4AM (now)!
