Arch, is this a Bosch fuel injection system? Porsche uses a system that
Bosch calls "Motronic" or something similar on the later cars and I
understood that to them Lambda was the air/fuel ratio as measured by the
oxygen sensor. Not disagreeing; I really don't know.

Thanks, Arch & Emory; it's nice once in a while to get my memory "verified!"

I don't doubt that it also optimizes spark timing and monitors detonation as
well. I think most modern engine management systems do, though I wouldn't be
surprised if Bosch was one of the pioneers.

Thanks for the chuckle, Rick! Did you have any pet names for the MFI or CIS
(K-Jetronic) systems?
