Just a short note on the results of my trip from Waukegan, IL to
Quartzsite, AZ; Escondido, CA, and back.

1) The GMC is still an EXCELLENT touring vehicle. The ride is still the
best!! And the sleeping accommodations, with full size mattress, were
GREAT!!

2) Goodyear Workhorse Radials (LR 'D') are smoother and quieter than
Cooper SRM LT Radials. They do, however, have LESS snow traction. (Only
hope they last as long, and as troublefree)

3) An unmuffled 455 is incredibly LOUD, but it will cause the GMC to
literally LEAP if You put it to the floor. (Mufflers were knocked off by
severe ice rutting on I-30)

4) The Statpower TrueCharge 40 works GREAT!!!!

5) People in California actually drive their GMC's !! (only place I saw
them on the road, although 2 Eleganza's showed up in Quartzsite)

6) The radiator protection screen is NO match for 14 inches of ice and
snow!!! Neither are the fender t-skirts!!(mostly the ice 'chunks' were
the problem!!)

7) The GMC CAN go 450 miles between fillups(40 gallons)!!! ( or as
little as 280 with a nasty headwind)

8) Stranded Truckers can run You out of COFFEE in a heartbeat!!!

9) Overall: A GREAT VACATION!!(Except for that damn ice storm in Texas
and Arkansas!!)

P.S. A GMC will do the 4000 foot climb out of San Diego on Cruise
Control without overheating !!! ( At least mine will!!)

That's got to be the most "concise" trip report ever. Bill, you are a
man of few words.
