nylon air tubing in colors

sometime this winter I am going to replace most if not all of my air tubing
and fittings on my coach. I have been hesitant thus far since I could not
find the tubing in the original colors. Think I have now found it and am
going to contact the company to find out prices. Would anyone else be
interested in getting a complete set of new air lines for their coaches? We
many save a substantial amount of money if we buy in bulk.

The company is Maza Industries in rochester NY and the information is:

Arch,

I don't think those push in fittings can be DOT approved. I think
vibrations have more of an affect on them. Of course I have seen people
use plastic versions of these fittings on their race cars for years with no
problems so YMMV :). IMO, these types of fittings are good if you want to
be able to quickly install and remove lines. Since a GMC installation is
somewhat permanent, I would take the extra time to use a more secure
fitting.

I might be interested if you will give us prices. Don't know how bad mine is, but it cant hurt to put
in new. How about leveling valves, or solenoids... Are those OK or should we be considering changing
those also.

Arch,

We got our DOT approved brass fittings from an industrial supply place.
These fittings have the inner crush protection as part of the fitting
instead of a separate piece that you insert into the line first. I believe
this is required for the DOT fittings. This is the way the original
fittings on the GMC were, although some of the crush protectors do come out
with the air line on the old fittings from fatigue. Some of the GMC
fittings also have some strange sizes/threads (height valves IIRC), so we
did have to reuse a couple of the originals with new crush nuts.

I'll look up more information about where we got them if you can't find
them. The DOT fittings and line are most commonly used for truck air
brakes, so any truck service stations would probably carry them or know
where to get them. I would also suspect that the nylon line place might
also carry them since they indicate that they sell DOT line.

Of course if you really want to go nuts, you can go with stainless steel
braided teflon line. Then you can have AN fittings! It wouldn't be color
coded, but boy would it look good! That is what we went to in our race car
after our new mufflers (yeah I know there aren't supposed to be mufflers on
race cars but tell that to NHRA) melted our nylon line. We also rerouted
that line, so don't get the idea that you can mount this stuff near
anything too hot :). At only $86 per 20' section, and $23 per stainless
steel fitting (only $6 if you just want regular steel fittings), you could
do all the GMC's air lines for just under $1000.00 :). It's a good thing
our race car only had one 5' line!
