Seeing as you have two listed in your sig file, I'm thinking this is not your first rodeo with "adjusted" plans! Sorry for your inconvenience though.
On our way to a family event 800 miles we had a heat related fuel problem and found an airport about 2 miles away, parked coach for $5 a day, rented a
car and made the party. Returned and ironed out the RV a few days later.

Stephen,

I'm in Tucson and have a pair of heads if you need a core. The only drawback is that one is a "J" head and the other is a "K" head. Different size
intake valves. They came off my coach that way. If it turns out that you only need one, I've got you covered. Larry's Engine and Marine is the
place to take them in Tucson. They have LOTS of experience with Olds engines.

Let me know if you're interested. I'm on the Black List or contact me here.

Hi Stephan,
Sorry to hear about the challenges with the GMC. Sounds like you have a great attitude though. Attitude makes the difference between an ordeal and
an adventure. Keep your chin up. :) Let us know what you find when you pull the heads.

PS. Have fun at Disneyland. Be sure to check out Cars Land right at sunset when they turn on all of the neon, and play the Sh-Boom music (Life Could
be a Dream), its pretty cool.

Stephen,

If it ends up that you have a cracked head, call me at 5 two 0 - two 4 0 - Nine 8 3 six if you need a core head.

Larry's can get you the gaskets you need. I recommend Dick Paterson's intake manifold gaskets with SS block-off plates for the exhaust crossover.

Also, I have had excellent luck with Dave Lenzi's embossed exhaust manifold gaskets, that is if you do not have headers.

Stephen,

Dave's gaskets are good if you read and follow his instructions. That includes several re-torques.

Stephan,

Like I said, if you have any questions you think I might be able to help with, please don't hesitate to call me. I will be attending the GMCSJ rally
at Casino Del Sol this weekend. I'm pretty sure there will be at least one other GMC there besides ours. You're welcome to drop by if you'd like.

Stephen,

Don't just pull the hoses. Before you break a head loose, get the drain plugs out of the block Both Sides. If you do not, coolant will run into the
bores.

Matt (need I say BTDT??)

I'm not getting some of the emails, apparently those going to the Phorum.
So, someone be sure Stephen gets this link:
http://www.gmcmhphotos.com/photos/g3057-cylinder-head-damage-from-exhaust-crossover-plugs.html

It says that his aluminum manifold, if from Edelbrock, is NOT insurance
against needing crossover blocking, but an invitation to destroy his
cylinder heads.

Ken,
Your email came through just fine. So there is no need for us to forward it to him. I just thought I would let you know.

Great pics...A question about the "dimpled end of the manifold"...I am just
about to pull my intake (to install blockoff plates, modello version, and
gaskets) and have read that everyone uses silicone at the end to seal
instead of gasket. Are these dimples "peened" into the gasket area before
installing silicone for staying power? Of course I'll be checking for
cracks etc. Also not planning on using a turkey tray, just the blockoff
plates and gaskets.

Any thoughts

Rich

Ken, I watched Mr John swap the manifold from the lunched engine onto the rebuild on his test stand. He took gray high temp sealer and ran a perfect
1/8th inch bead along the front and rear edges of the block. Then he and his helper VERY CAREFULLY set the manifold directly down on the gaskets and
bead and bolted it down tight without allowing it to move sideways. He told me "If it slides, you need to lift it off and reseal". So far, dry on
both ends.
