I am considering replacing my original air conditioner with a 15,000
BTU Norcold. Does anyone have suggestions where I can find the best
deal?

You are so right! I meant Duo-Therm (Divn. of Dometic Corp.). My
fingers wrote something different than my brain wanted!. My present
24 year old Duo-Therm specs show that it is a 11,000 or 11,500 btu.
I would assure that their new one at 15,000 will put out about 30%
more cooling no matter what the actual btus are. The specs also show
that it draws the same or less current. so maybe they've made some
improvements over the years. So, does anyone have suggestions as
where to buy the 15,000 btu Duo-therm? Camping World doesn't carry
it.

Chuck - thanks a lot. Their $580 price looks a whole lot better than
the $799 I found elsewhere.

The 15K duotherm also puts out 12.5 of heat if the temp outside is over 40
degrees. However, it does make a bit more noise that the older quieter models...
just thought I would tell you. I like it because it does put out more btus of
cooling, but at a cost of a little noise.

Al -- Thanks. There are two Duo-therm 15,000 models. One is a heat
pump and the other is their regular Brisk Air model. I do not want
the heat pump model as it doesn't put out heat below 40 degrees. I
just want the air conditioner.

By the way, if anyone wants to add the electric heat strip to their
NorCold, Camping World, at camping world.com is having a special
right now on that strip at $10.00. It usually is about $60.00. They
also have a $1.00 shipping charge special on internet orders right
now.

I retrofitted the NorCold 5600 btu heat strip to my original Norcold
GMC air conditioner a few years ago. It will retrofit but you would
need a different switch from Norcold which has the heater position.
This is much nicer than carrying a space heater around and also
safer. If you are parked at a campground with electricity in the
winter it saves on propane and is quieter than the furnace. I do
still carry my little "cube" heater along though.

Henry & Manny - thanks for the input. You must both shop at the same
place. Their web site shows $649. So far Chuck Esh is the winner
with $580 at
http://www.advrv.com. Now I've got to compare shipping costs before ordering.

Thanks to all.
