I worked in our cable headend yesterday, and we had been sent a promo-tape
by HBO that was about 25 years old.

It wasn't marked, so I popped it in and saw a GMC motorhome that was used as
a mobile production studio. Very arty shots, so I couldn't see the whole
thing, but from the cable connections, etc, probably a transmode. One of my
co-workers said they used that footage as the beginning montage on most
specials HBO aired.

My question: Does anyone have a listing of GMC's in the starring or
supporting role of Movies or TV shows? That list would be an interesting
addition to Patrick or Max's websites. I'll even add a bonus category...

Here's the few I can remember:

- - Movies -
Stripes
Twister

- - TV shows -
Coach (opening scenes)

- - Famous / Infamous owners -
?

Thought this might be fun while the list is set on low.

I keep track of celeb ownership. So far, I have coaches that were owned
by Jay Leno, Elton John, Red Skelton and Tammy Wynette. I have also
followed up on the lead about the firm in City of Industry, CA that
helped to prepare the GMC for Twister. Had a nice phone conversation with
them the other day.

If any owners know of their coach's prior owner history I record that,
celebs or not.

Dave:

My wife remembers someone telling her that Shirley Jones and Marty Engles
once owned a GMC. Also, the fellow who started showing up to the GMCMI
convention's at Mt Rushmore, assisting Mac McNeil install instrument panels,
has a coach with woodgrain along the sides of the coach that was once owned
by someone famous, if I remember correctly??
