Yes it was the ignition module, changed it out and fired right up. It did not go bad during operation but must have failed during startup from the last time I shut the motor down (several months ago) to when i tried to start it over the weekend.

The replacement that I got was from NAPA . 7 pin Echlin Part # TP47 supposedly for a 1982 Camaro 350. Dick Paterson indicated an 81 or 82 so he was spot on. Cost was $47.00. On the box it says Made in USA. Not sure if that is the box or what was in the box. Only difference was on the heat sink material supplied. Dick Paterson uses a white pasty material and the new one comes with a clear “silicone” looking stuff.

thanks everyone for their comments and replies.

Do you know if that would be the same module for a 403? I have a Patterson dizzy but having a spare would set my mind at ease a bit.

Thanks

According to your signature line you have a carb which mean you have a mechanical distributor. The part number Gary used will not be the right one for
your application. Gary's is a 7-pin used in Computer Controlled Distributors. You need a 4 - pin module. I don't have a good number available but
any 4 - pin GM module should work.

G'day,

I do not believe that Dick monitors the GMC Net; I would suggest you contact him directly. However, he may be on the way to the
GMCMI Convention in Elkhart, Indiana.
