No Onan for the 230?

Dave,

We put a Honda EV6010 in our 23'. I think when we were looking, the Honda
required the least amount of space for a 6K. We mounted ours "sideways" so
that we could slide it out of the door if we wanted. This meant that the
gen compartment had to be enlarged into the living area of the GMC, but the
compartment is under a permanent bed on ours so it wasn't a problem for us.
The measurements (and Honda's recommended space) are in the manual which I
scanned and posted on the http://smsgmc.webjump.com website a while ago.
You might want to check out the dimensions and see if the Honda 6K or 4K
(same generator size but less air space required) would fit. Heinz
probably has similar specs for his new Generac, so you might want to ask
him about it.

Dave,
When you check the smaller Generac.... or any other GenSet for that matter,
be sure it's not running a constant 3600 rpm. The reason the Onans are/were
quiet is their 1800 rpm.

Honda watercooled is the exception, but I've heard folks say they set up a
weird resonance that may be a bother when running l o n g periods of time.
May be installation related though.

I just mention it as a caution.
