Arch... I used a real 2/4 to raise the dinette...why? First the width is a true
2" which allowed me to use the regular base and mount it to the 2" base. Bolts
through the base had lots of good gripping force. Secondly, the width and
height were stronger than using the normal 2" X 4" which is really only 1 1/2"
by 3 1/2" of a standard 2X4. Lastly, if you are of average height as am I, I
might suggest using the real 2"by 4" then cutting it down a little to 3/ 1/2" or
3" if it seems to high. We love ours, and lastly, by raising it up I was able
to get more storage under the seat behind the passengers side, and a great pull
out drawer by the door, where the drawer could open into the hall opening. That
was my plan and I'm sticking to it.
