New transmission lines

I have spent the afternoon fighting the new transmission lines, and just plain feel stupid. I know Jim K's stuff works and either the PO has some
lines run in weird places or I am just plain ignorant. Replaced the flare fittings in the trans, and the lines from the stock radiator run across the
front to the drivers rail, but I just can't get the threads started in the fittings for the lines from the trans running along the rail to the front.
I can't figure a way to get them under the exhaust and out to the front.... so have been trying over the driver's side exhaust. seems wrong to me, but
there must be a magic way to thread them through the bundles of air, brake and crap on the driver's side..

I think the ones he has are pre-bent and he is trying to figure out the routing. I can not help him as mine are also pre-bent but by a different
manufacturer. They are not the same as OEM.

I think the other problem he is having is what you always have when the lines are not perfectly vertical to the threaded hole. I always have that
issue on new flared brake, or trans, or gas lines. Getting them to match and start the first thread is a pain.

I have no magic suggestions.

You are 100% correct. the exact straight threading issue. I did figure out the lines run back to the firewall and then down the driver's side, I can
get the left one to thread into the right side, and the vice versa, but the proportioning valve for the brakes is always in JUST the wrong place for
alignment to get the suckers threaded in. The hard part is can't move the far end of the line AND thread it in at the same time.. will require an
assistant to "jiggle the line" ... a whole day wasted on a transmission line. I really wanted to start it up this weekend...

You might have to bend those pipes slightly to get them to line up for the flare nut to start. If it is just an end the needs bent for better
alignment, find a round shank phillips screw driver that is the same or slightly smaller diameter than the inside diameter of the pipe. Stick it
inside the pipe. Then you can pull or push slightly to get the angle bend you need and it will not damage the sealing surface of the flare or the
flare nut.
