Hello all,
I'm new here ,have had a 75 Glenbrook 26 ft. for almost 19 years. (Engine
and trans rebuilt by winterfeldt years ago.) Have had great times .
Haven't driven it much in the last 3 years except aound the block to keep
everything moving. Now my Onan is pouring oil out when it is running.
Guess it's time for a new generator what is recommended? The Onan 5000
watt?
Thanks,
Ron

We are an Onan Dealer, but I can tell you that the oil leak is nothing more
than the Oil Filter Adapter gasket leaking.
I can help you to figure that out.
I can quote very competitive price on new ones, but try that fix, and see.

Mine actually leaked out of the top oil pressure switch, but I would change the gaskets too since they are right there and get brittle and seep if
they are not leaking also. You have to run it with some of the shrouds off to see exactly where it is leaking.

A properly operating Onan is certainly worth the effort to solve the oil
leak especially if it is a drawer model. The drawer makes repairs
considerably easier.

the onans seem pretty bulletproof when it comes to oil leaks. Know lots of people who replaced a couple easy seals and no longer have oil problems.
Seals are old, so that would be expected.

Like Jim K said, the oil filter housing gasket leaks, there are two on that housing. pretty easy to replace.

the oil pressure switch can tend to leak. also simple to replace.

the last is the flywheel seal. takes a little more to get to that, but very easy. use the right puller to pop the flywheel off and it is right
behind the flywheel on the front.

from what I have seen, with those three spots fixed, oil leakage is normally no longer an issue.(can't think of anybody that had further leaks right
now). I know it fixed my leaking problems.

as for alternatives, nothing is cheap, and there are trade offs. so unless you use your coach every weekend and want to use that generator as much,
I would say you are better off keeping the old onan, and spend the money saved there on some fuel for some more trips!

It's well worth getting the kit from Jim K and converting to electronic Ignition, if all else runs good. Makes a huge difference. Just my experience.

Thanks for your responses to my Onan oil leak. I had called Wes Coughlin
about a year ago when this first started happening and for some reason was
under the impression that parts weren't available anymore. You not only put
me on the right path to fix the generator but also renewed my faith in the
GMC community my wife was actually trying to talk me into selling it. Took
mine to applied GMC a few years ago for some work but didn't realize they
could also fix the generator.
Thanks again,
Ron

In fact his lawyers are threating to sue the gmc community which will kill
the gmc effort....
I will not be buying ANYTHING from them...

What!?

First of all how do you sue a community?

Second how dumb is he? Thats as bad, or worse than the RIAA suing it's customers
