Richard,
My wife and I looked over your soon to be GMC yesterday. The owner has
made quite a few improvements over the years. It looks to be in good
condition and has more gauges that a 747. I was there to check out a
complete GMC driveline he has for sale. Unfortunately, I missed Robert
and never got to check out the driveline components. The coach has the
floor plan I wish I had. I could see that the engine hatch was
off.....the engine looked new, or mighty clean for a used one. Too bad
you don't have a small trailer you could tow back. He has a George
Dimmik built 455, a TH425 (46,000 miles) with a D.Dunn convertor (new)
on it and a final drive. Hhe wants $1,500 for the whole mess.
Nice coach.

All......

Thanks for your warm welcome to a new owner. It is nice
to know that I can get some good advice and help here when
I need it.

Those of you who responded were most helpful and I will
take your suggestions and recommendations seriously.

I'm off to Southern Utah in my "new" coach tomorrow for
the weekend. It will be the first road trip for us. I hope
all goes well. I'll report when I get back.

Thank again for your encouragement.

Hello:
For the past weeks I have been a silent reader of the digest. Learn, learn
learn. A personal introduction, my wife (Anita) and I recently bought an
Eleganza II, which a buddy and I are picking up this weekend about 800
miles south of here (I'm in Toronto). Probably would have bought sooner,
but frankly, time to use it may still be a problem as we both still work in
demanding jobs (but getting closer to the big R, maybe).

I love to get into things, so bringing the coach up to 2000 will be a
pleasure in itself. Learning from the "experts" on the list will be a great
help. As a point of interest, a hobyy of mine is collecting GMC hot wheels
(and I notice on EBAY that they are getting nearly as expensive as the real
thing), and I have many, and GMC Motorhome original advertising, brochures,
etc. Have a lot. Guess it's all about quality and uniqueness. You'd think I
was 12 again. Also, I'm into the Net big time. All this keeps the mind off
the "real job" outside of 8-8.

I'm looking forward to some interesting short trips this summer. Also,
which Chapter would I approach, the Great lakers?

Thanks
Chuck

Chuck,
Welcome to the active participation in the GMCnet. I'm sure you will have lots
of fun tinkering with your new GMC. I know I have.

Of the groups to join, I would suggest the Great Lakers. Of course I'm biased
as I'm a member of that group. Also GMC Motorhomes International.

Welcome to you and Anita!

The Great Lakers is a really active club and covers your area. I'm sure
they will welcome you and Anita as members. You should also consider GMC
Motorhomes, International which publishes a great parts cross index list
and a newsletter and handy roster for travel.

You will have to join Family Motor Coach Assoc (FMCA) which is the parent
organization for the 18 GMC chapters. Let me know privately if you need
applications for the last two clubs.

I will be sending you a note about the GMC Motorhome Registry and after
you pick up your dream coach pls send the data back to me.

I also have an extensive collection of GMC literature of memorabilia that
I started collecting in the 70's. Like many things one collects it
continues to grow. Not good for a condo dweller!

Welcome Aboard!
