Here is some info that appeared on another mailing list I subscribe to:

Picked up some "New" Tri-Synthetic Formula Mobil 1 5W30 today for $2.49/qt
at a local Target store here in the Cincinnati area. Says that it is a
unique combination of three high performance synthetic fluids proven to
outperform all conventional oils. Sure beats $3.97/qt!

Are you certain that all Three fluids are truly synthetic or could it be
that they are doing the 'Synthetic Blend' as found in Castrol's SYNTEC
oil????? The word 'blend' means it contains some amount of synthetic oil
with the remainder being conventional. The problem as I understand it is
that the 'blended' oils are like a chain - only as good as the weakest
link. OTOH at $1.50 less per quart, .............. hum
