Just the courtesy introduction. I am a new member looking to purchase in the next few months. Middlin' wrenching ability, decent understanding. I have a 68 Road Runner and a 73 Blazer. I'd consider trading the Road Runner if anyone is interested and values were commensurate.

Looking to buy something fully functional on the west coast (I live in the middle of NV) that I can gradually improve as time and money allow.

Glad to receive any and all advice.

Jeff,

Look everywhere. Go to GMCMI and download a copy of the Black's (aka GMC assist) List and look for nearby people that I hope will soon be friends. You may (will) need their guidance.

Locate and bookmark the 16 local chapters and watch those, Craig's list and Facebook like it is a religion. The good ones do show up and don't last long. Get to look at every coach you can. There is really not a lot of difference over the six years of production, but some differences may matter more to you.

When there is any rally in striking range, get to it as soon as you can to both meet owners and coaches. You seem to understand that you are at the beginning of a very steep learning curve. This might be more profound, but with this community behind you, the climb can be very rewarding.

Now the Big Bump... We often tell perspectives that a reliable and ready to travel coach will cost you about 35K$us. We keep proving that. But what should be of direct interest in your position is that includes sweat on your part. Most shops are charging about 125$/Mh for labor. With that kind of money in play, you can buy the tools you need to do the work. And, you don't have to be done to start enjoying what the coach can do for you.

Much appreciated everyone.

Matt, you said to locate and bookmark the 16 local chapters. I looked around on GMCMi and didn't manage to find anything. Can you point me in the right direction?

Billy, thanks I downloaded the Black List.

Thanks again all.

Welcome aboard! We're transitioning between coaches, and have a very functional one that we've been camping in for years we'll be selling in the Salem OR area. We bought it in Phoenix, and it had Alaska plates with Florida receipts so it's been getting around. It has lots of room for improvement, but is ready to use. We're using it right now! We haven't determined a price, but it'll definitely be under $10k. Let me know if you want to know more.

Happy to lend advice in your quest for a different one too, of course.

Jeff,
Sorry, I have been really busy.

You want to go to <https://www.gmcmi.com/gmc-chapters/> they are all listed there. Some have websites and FB groups. This just makes the search more involved as there is often no coordination between the two so you have to look at both to know.

Best of luck and do not be put off by the amazing cooperation you may get from any of the new/old friends you may make along the way.
